Description

The Allegheny East Conference is seeking a Women's and Prayer Ministries Director to provide leadership for prayer-driven evangelism, revival, and mission efforts and assist the Conference Administration in identifying and meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of women throughout the Conference territory.

Summary of Key Job Duties

  • Supports the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Allegheny East Conference through Women’s Ministries.
  • Creates an environment that encourages productivity, rewards effort and initiative, and provides a spiritual climate for each woman (member) of the churches within the Conference to realize holistic growth.
  • Conducts surveys and needs assessment of the women (members) within the Conference.
  • Chairs the Women’s Ministries Council.
  • Works closely with pastors to effect a liaison relationship between the Conference and the churches.
  • Plans for program development throughout the Conference.
  • Promotes the Women’s Ministries program through speaking engagements throughout the conference.
  • Recruits and utilizes the leadership skills of the women of the conference to assist in program development, implementation and assessment processes.
  • Inspires and assists women in identifying and utilizing their talents and skills for building the King of God.
  • Maintains regular communication with Women’s Ministry Officers.
  • Develop and promote a clear vision for prayer ministries in alignment with the overall mission of the conference.
  • Provide support for pastoral staff and church leaders on strategies to integrate prayer into the church's activities and worship services.
  • Plan and organize prayer events, such as prayer meetings, retreats, and prayer conferences.
  • Coordinate special prayer campaigns, including those focusing on community outreach, personal revival, or conference/church mission initiatives.
  • Provide resources and materials for personal and group prayer, including prayer guides, devotionals, and Scripture readings.
  • Foster relationships with other prayer ministries and groups within the conference.
  • Facilitate prayer networks, both locally and globally, to encourage unity in prayer across the conference and SDA Church.
  • Develop and maintain a database of prayer requests and praises to share.
  • Promote prayer as a tool for evangelism and mission, encouraging prayer in support of outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with global prayer ministries to support international mission projects through prayer.
  • Creates and distributes periodic newsletters related to women's and prayer ministries.
  • Serves as liaison between the Union and the Conference providing periodic reports.
  • Prepares and presents to the Conference Administration, for its approval and/or adoption, budgets, goals and objectives necessary for the fulfillment of the women's and prayer ministries functions.
  • Travels throughout the conference territory and other areas for women's and prayer ministries activities, events, and training.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Adventist beliefs, mission, and practices, with a heart for evangelism and community outreach.
  • Has a deep and vibrant personal prayer life, grounded in Seventh-day Adventist theology and values.
  • Has working knowledge and understanding of the uniqueness of women in their various stages and roles of life, and in the richness of their cultural diversity.
  • Has a passion for prayer ministry and helping others grow in their spiritual walk with God.
  • Strong biblical knowledge and an understanding of the role of prayer in the life of a believer.
  • Has a clear spiritual understanding of God’s design for women.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to organize events, manage volunteers, and lead groups effectively.
  • Has leadership, counseling and administrative skills.
  • Is able to empower and motivate others.
  • Principle centered.
  • Skilled in meeting planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in regular standing.
  • Training in psychology, sociology and/or religion preferred.
  • Previous experience in church ministry, prayer leadership, or pastoral care is preferred.
  • Experience in working with women’s groups or organizations.
  • Must complete required child abuse and sexual harassment training, pass all required background clearances and keep them current.
