Description
The dual position seeks a candidate who will work as a preschool teacher for 3.0 hours a day and as program director for 2.0 hours a day. It is a year-round position, and the candidate must be a practicing member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities (Teacher)
Designing and implementing conference-approved curriculum
Knowledge and experience with working with preschool aged children
Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for early childhood development
Adhering to legal, state protocols, and educational requirements to ensure student well-being
Basic Duties and Responsibilities (Director)
Plan, organize, manage, and supervise the ELC program and the after-school program in coordination with the Calvary Adventist School board and the State of Virginia; and facilitate positive relations among preschool staff, parents, and the center
Requires strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition
Oversee policies of admission, attendance, and educational goals in accordance with the Columbia Union Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist Office of Education and the Allegheny East Conference Office of Education
Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum, interactions, and environments
Train and supervise the preschool staff by holding meetings, mediating minor disagreements, and assisting in the classroom when necessary.
Manage reports and reimbursement claims for the school’s National School Lunch Program in conjunction with the School Nutrition Director
Requirements
Practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Fingerprint and Background Check clearance
Sterling Volunteers clearance
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or a related education major OR a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a child care center
Eligible for denominational teacher certificate
Prior teaching experience preferred
Prior school director experience is preferred
